Trip Itinerary (March 2017)

Day 1 22nd March

Department from USA

Day 2 23rd March

Arrival in Munich Orientation drive.. Light lunch.. Hotel check in. Evening walk through the old center.. incl. dinner at a beer cellar

Day 3 24th March

Morning at leisure .. late morning departure for Passau, the city of the 3 rivers Welcome cocktail with your cruise manager and introduction of your crew. Early evening sail for Regensburg and enjoy a beautifully created welcome dinner in the elegant on-board restaurant.

Day 4 25th March

Morning sightseeing tour of picturesque Regensburg. See the Town Hall, St. Peter’s Cathedral and the stone bridge which has spanned the Danube since it was built in the 12 th century. Back on your ship for lunch on board. Afternoon we can recommend an optional trip to the Benedictine abbey of Weltenberg, famous for it’s dark beer being brewed there. After a tour of the Abbey, you will have a chance to sample their extraordinary beer. After dinner enjoy some Bavarian folklore while your ship departs from Regensburg and sets off for Passau

Day 5 26th March

Passau is the city of 3 rivers. The Danube, the Inn and the Ilz meet there. For those who like excursions we offer different trips to chose from. An included walking tour to admire the baroque treasures and to hear about the lively history of this place. An optional trip takes you to the romantic city of “Salzburg” and on to the impressive landscapes of the “Sound of Music”. A different excursion can bring you to the Czech town of “Cesky Krumlov”, home of some incredible architectural treasures and a UNESCO World Heritage Sight. After any of these trips a coach will take you to Linz where you meet your ship again. Those to prefer to stay on board during the afternoon sailing can enjoy a tour of Linz, before the vessel departs for the “Wachau” in the evening.

Day 6 27th March

Melk-Emmersdorf-Weissenkirchen- Vienna. This morning we arrive in the heart of the famous cultural landscape of Wachau. The included tour of the Benedictine Abbey of Melk is highly recommended. You can visit the prelature, the marble hall and the incredible abbey library. • Afterwards we re-board our ship in Weissenkirchen and past castles and fortifications from the middle-ages we proceed downstream to the capital city of Vienna. After our “Wiener Schnitzel” dinner you might want to join the optional experience to the most famous viewpoint of Vienna, the “Kahlenberg”, from where Vienna was liberated from the Turkish siege of 1683 by King Sobiesky from Poland. A visit to the oldest Sparkling Winery of the “Vienna Woods” with wine tasting will round up the evening.

Day 7 28th March

his mornings sightseeing tour will show you the Hofburg Palace, the State Opera, the Parliament, Burg Theater and the world’s 2 nd oldest German university; followed by a stroll through the oldest part of the city and pedestrian area with it’s 450 ft tall St. Stephen’s cathedral. Those who wish can take an optional tour of Schoenbrunn Palace, take a stroll in the residence park and visit the staterooms of this magnificent Habsburg residence. After dinner music enthusiasts can take an optional trip to a city palace, where Johann Strauss used to direct his own orchestra playing waltzes and polkas. The Sound of Vienna orchestra will play popular melodies from the classical era of Vienna. The illuminated buildings of the “Ringstrasse” accompany you back. Perhaps a “midnight-snack” on the ship and in the early morning hours we will sail to Bratislava.

Day 8 29 th March

We arrive in the Slovakian capital of Bratislava and after a leisure morning we enjoy a walking sightseeing tour through the city. You will have plenty of time to explore yourself this afternoon. Tonight your captain invites you for a Gala Dinner as your ship sails on to Hungary.

Day 9 30 th March

We arrive in Esztergom early this morning where you have the option to take an excursion to Szentendre, home to a famous artist’s colony. Shop for art and handicraft and browse the galleries of this most important artistic stronghold of Hungary. At mid-day a coach takes you to Budapest, where your ship awaits. From the water you can enjoy fascinating views of the splendid skyline of the city. Impressive buildings on both sides.. which you later this afternoon can visit during our city tour. The program features a visit to the parliament, Fisherman’s bastion with it’s medieval ramparts and St. Matthew’s church on the “castle hill”. During your last evening on board we will bid farewell to the captain and his crew and enjoy some lively Hungarian folklore and dancing after dinner. As the grand finale a “Illumination’s Cruise” through the city.

Day 10 31 st March

Disembarkation and check into your hotel in Budapest. Today you will have the possibility to take a side tour to the “Puszta Plains” where you can enjoy a visit to a Hungarian estate and experience a horse and buggy ride through this unique landscape with it’s interesting flora and fauna, breeding place of famous race horses and home of the original “Goulash”, traditionally prepared by the cowboys of the “lowlands”.

Day 11 1 st April

Set off on your journey back home and reflect on the week’s memories.
